Steve Wood

This is my second try doing this, after I cropped the canvas out. Like I said before, I was going for mass appeal, explaining my choice for an andronygous model. Plus, I figured most people are going through some sort of life crisis.

I like how you didn’t just use the picture as the cover. I like the way that you broke things up so that they didn’t take away from the picture. The picture is great and definitely gives off the nature theme. I like the leaf in the top left corner and the way life is bigger then the word half, it adds to the magazine and captures your attention. The colors you used were great, they are very earthy and the green borders don’t take away from the picture. I also really like the way that the Implorer Explorer text is designed and placed. Overall I think that you did a great job with all aspects of the cover.

I thought the words in this magazine cover was full usage of contrasts in words; inplorer/explorer, a small size of half and a little bit bigger size of life, backtrack ...with your backpack. It is full of rhyms. I think these tiny works from corner to corner makes this magazine cover very unique and strong. I think it is great that you were able to think of all of these small details. In addition, I like the picture of the river, river gets bigger as it comes down. It implies, I thought,a metaphor of the life that totally matches your theme. If I were in my 50', I will definetley pick it up from a book store and take it straight to a casher.
