There are a few aspects of this magazine cover that I think work very well. The font that you chose to use has a formal and professional look to it. The title is easy to read and is aligned perfectly. I also like the way that the photo you used almost seems like it is on an angle. The way the DJ's arm is out in the middle of the page makes your eyes move across it. The way you contrasted your headline in yellow over the guys dark grey shirt was also effective and made the text standout. The only thing I think this cover really needs is more headlines. Not only would it make the cover more interesting but it would advertise more than one of the articles found inside which could attract different readers.
yeah i think more headlines would def help. also, a stronger nameplate. i think the tipped picture sort of gives this tipsy, wacky effect, but then the nameplate is a little boring. otherwise, nice effort.
